Life With Boys..

I have come to realize {not that I shouldn't have before..} boys are just different than girls.  I mean that's what makes them so great right?!  My sweet little Jack is turning into a BIG boy.. he says things like "Ow! My nuts!"  OMG.. I did not expect that at 7!  His father thinks it's the funniest thing in the world, Me.. not so much!  Then there's this line "Really, Brady did you just do that?"  What?!  Who turned this kid into a teenager?!  I sometimes have to bite my tongue so as not to laugh.. because it is NOT funny!  As far as his "nuts" go, I was talking to some mom's at football and one mom in-particular has 3 boys and her 7 year old is the youngest.  I asked her what she would do and she gave me some great advice,  she said to tell them that I am a lady and their sister is too and that they do not talk like that in front of ladies and if they want to talk like that to go in another room.  Thanks for the good advice Jenny!  I mean really, am I going to stop this kind of talk?  Nope!  But I sure don't have to hear it!  After all they are boys and they do have "nuts" and they will talk about them.. just not in front of a lady!
Then the other morning as I was driving the boys to school we were having the conversation about what Brady could take for sharing the next day ~ his sharing revolves around the letter of the week,  you can bring what you want it just has to start with that letter and this last week was H week.  So I was naming of some things like hippo, hug, happy, Halloween ~ you know good things and then all of a sudden Jack blurts out "whore" he can bring "whore"  I turned around and asked him what he was talking about.  I could not even begin to imagine where he heard that word!  I was shocked!!  Then he repeated it again and again and I again said WHAT?!  And then he ever so innocent said "Mom you know it's scary?" Whew... he meant "horror" I quickly told him the right way to say that word and moved on!  I was so nervous that he had heard that word and that I was going to have to explain to him that you just don't say words like that!  Funny.. he just meant horror!  But Brady was quick to tell Jack,  you can't take "whore" it's just a word.  Yes it is Bird, yes it is!
So there you have it.. My life with boys!  I'm sure I will only have more of these stories as the months go on and they get bigger.  I just need to remember to remain calm and NEVER, laugh at them in front of them.. it only makes it worse!

Life at The Muth's

We have been very busy this Fall.. asyou might have noticed since I haven't posted a single thing! Jack's footb
all season is ALMOST overand it was a hoot!  He
loved/hated it.. loved the game and practices, hated that all of his friends in the neighborhood got more playtime than he did, what he didn't realize is that they all wished they could have played football.  In the end it has been a great experience and has taught him so much about the game! Next week we start basketball.. from one thing to the next!  But this time Brady gets to join the fun,  he is so excited!
Livie is growing and changing every single day, she has 4 teeth now, is a creeping, crawling machine!  She can stand without holding on and tries to bend down and get back up with out the help of furniture {yes, she is just 8 months!},  she is now getting into anything she can get her hands on!  She's a busy, busy girl.
Halloween was a super fun night for us.  I had to put my foot down and make Jason and Jack stay home from the Duck game.. even though Papa and Daddy had Jack convinced he could Trick or Treat at the tailgate {I think he could have.. I just didn't want him to miss out on neighborhood fun}.. it all turned out okay ~ Daddy DVR'd the game while out with the boys and got to watch it without interruption after!  Jack even replayed the game the next day, that boy loves the Ducks!
The boys dressed up as Harry Potter and Dracula.. hair color included!  It was such a mess but the boys LOVED the hair color.  I'm not sure we'll do that again, but it was very fun this year - not too mention that I had to color it 3 different times for different events.  Oh what fun!  Livie was a little witch ~ she didn't much like the hat but so cute!  Costume handmade by Mommy.. the first and probably the last since my sewing skills are terrible!  But it turned out super cute this year.

I have to run for now.. just wanted to share some Halloween pics and give some updates.

Busy, Busy Days...

This has been a busy time around our house.  I am so flustered I cannot even tell you!  I am a complete scatter-brain!  And I know my husband is rolling his eyes and saying to himself "when aren't you a scatter-brain?!" But really this is bad!  Everyone is back at school now and things are going well.  Jack is doing so awesome in first grade!  We are so proud of him.  His teacher said he is a "model" student.. way to go buddy!  I was talking to a Mommy after school the other day and she told me a funny story about him.  Jack went to preschool and kinder with her daughter so they know each other.. but apparently Jack is quite the ladies man on the playground!  The Mommy told me that she went to meet her daughter for lunch and after went out on the playground and when she did there was a whole group of girls {her daughter included} chasing Jack and hugging him telling him they loved him.  Oh man!  He has always been chased by the girls.. even when we lived in San Diego at his little preschool when he was 4 I can remember looking over the fence during his outside time and he was running circles around the playground from the girls.  What a hoot! It's funny now.. but give it a few years and I won't be laughing!  He is loving all of the new things at school and even loves the lunch time credit card {the one that he DOES NOT have any money on}  he came home the other day and told me he bought a chocolate milk for lunch instead of drinking his organic white milk that I packed in his lunch bag.  I asked him how he bought milk when he doesn't have any money and he said he swiped his card {what ever happened to the fun little tickets that your Mom had to buy?!} and the lady said he didn't have any money but he could have it this time.. SUCKER!  He played you lady.. he knew he didn't have any money and he flashed that cute little grin, those crystal blue eyes with eyelashes for days and you gave it to him!  UGH!!! There is a reason he doesn't have money on that card!  We talked and now he's clear that he will never have money on his card if he does that again.. he is so intrigued by the school lunches, he just doesn't know how good he has it!  Someday he will ~ right?!  Tonight is his first football game.. GO BENGALS!
Brady started Pre~K on Monday.. how cute!  He was so excited to get there and when we all walked him in he turned and said "goodbye"  what?!  No tears, or hesitation?!  Why not? Won't you miss me?  Umm.. not really!  He had a great day!  The second day though is a different story.. he got kicked out of music!  I talked to the teacher and it really wasn't that big of a deal she just wanted him to know how he was supposed to be acting vs. how he was acting and that he can't stay in class if he is going to be crazy.  Just one more thing to put on the list of how different Jack and Brady are!  It's what makes Brady so special!  A Mommy also stopped me about him yesterday morning.  Her daughter Ginger is in his class {I know what you are thinking.. Ginger? But let me tell you, she is one of the cutest little red haired girls I have EVER seen ~ her name is perfect!} Anyway.. Ginger went home and told her Mommy that she really liked Brady Muth's hair.. she said it's spikey and kind of crunchy and cool!  And the next morning when her little brother started preschool she told her Mommy that she needed to fix his hair like Brady Muth's because then all of the girls will like him!  Too Funny!  I think Ginger has a crush on our silly little bird!  Again.. I will be less than thrilled in a few years when my phone starts ringing!  Speaking of Bird.. this morning he told Jason and I that his head can turn all the way around like an owls because he has "bird" in his name and he then proceeded to turn his head to the side {I think he thought all the way around.. not sure!} to show us.  So funny.  He really, really is one of a kind!
And Mister Oliver.. oh I mean Miss Olivia.. yeah that's what her pediatrician called her at her appt. on Monday.  She walked right in and said "how is Mr. Oliver doing today"  WHAT?!  You are her dr. right?  You do have her chart,  you looked at it right?!  Good Lord!  Let me tell you it wasn't the only time it happened that day.. she was in chocolate brown velour sweats with a pink shirt on!  A mommy at preschool said "oh you finally had your little boy" my girlfriend Mandy looked at her and said "you mean little girl, it's a girl"  I just don't get it.. how many babies do you know that are born with long flowing girly locks of hair? Just because you are a girl does not mean you come out with hair!  And then the guy at the pharmacy asked Brady if his little brother was sick.. the lady he was working with yelled at him and said "she's wearing pink!" the man then said "guys wear pink too".. I guess pink really is the new black!  How can I win if boys are wearing pink too?!  Anyways.. Olivia is a crazy lady.  She is completely crawling on all fours.. she is fast too.  She pulls herself up on the furniture.. and of course falls because she hasn't figured out the squat yet.  And is walking around furniture.  She is only 6 months and her dr. says she's off the charts mobility wise.. of course she is ~ She's our girl!  Forget that she just let's go and smashes her head on everything.. I hope this is okay later!  She was sick this week with a fever and runny nose, she's good now but I forgot how long those nights can be.  Poor little princess!
That's it for now.. we are entering another new chapter next week.. Daycare and Mommy back at work 2 days a week.  God, please help me get organized and with it!  I just cannot imagine what it will be like next week!  Have a good day!

A Happenin' Few Days..

These last few days have been busy, fun, and full of surprises!  Jack had his first football scrimmage.  So scary and funny to watch all at the same time.  He's so teeny tiny {to me} when I see him out on the field tackling people and running I just cringe!  He loves it.  I think his games will be fun to watch.  We went to Duck Fan Day at Autzen Stadium.. boy was he happy!  It was a really fun day filled with lots of autographs and football players everywhere.  The boys got to see the new hot shot for this season Blunt.. but at the time Daddy didn't have a pen for an autograph, and that was okay until we saw him being mobbed in the parking lot Jack wanted his autograph so bad.  Jason and I decided it would be too much to mob the poor guy and literally there were at least 50 people surrounding him when all he wanted was to go home.  So we moved on with Jack in tears.  Little did we know {and Jack will never know this} we ran into another family from our football team and they said right after we saw them they saw Blunt all by himself walking to his car!  We totally could have had it!  Ugh!!  Oh well.. Jack survived!
After Fan Day we headed to a football activity for Jack and then to a pizza place for dinner.  This pizza place was in Albany and we had no idea what to expect but boy were we in for surprises.  It had great pizza and a great kid atmosphere.  Saturday nights from 6-9 are family night with Karaoke included!  And guess who hopped on stage and sang?!  No, not me!  Brady!  That kid got up on stage with a microphone in front of at least 20 strangers and sang the ABC's Karaoke style!  Jack and I stood by him but he was on stage looking out at all the people singing.. at first he was quiet, then he lifted the microphone a little higher and at the end I told him to sing "big" and he did!  Too funny!  I heard him that night in bed talking to himself saying he wished he could do this day over.  Oh man!  What a hoot that kid is.  I mean I thought he would sign up and chicken out.. he couldn't wait for his turn!  We are most certainly going back and maybe even with Sugar and Papa!  What'd ya say Auntie Meme?  Up for some Karaoke?!  We now you like the stage!
And finally the littlest of all.. she has had a BIG week!  She can now fully sit up by herself and does often, she has started to crawl, and has popped a tooth through all in a matter of a few days!  Sugar and Papa went on a trip so it's only natural she would change so much!  And to top it off this morning she pulled herself up on the excersaucer.. you know the round thing babies sit in and play with their toys?!  Yep she pulled herself up!  I was upstairs doing laundry and Jack started screaming to come here quick and when I came she was just hanging out looking like it was no big deal!  What a stinker!!  The boys both walked early {Jack at 9 months and Brady at 10}  I swear if she doesn't slow down I will just lose it!  I feel like those nine months in the womb take FOREVER..  and really a lot does happen in those nine months.. but these last 6 have gone WAY too fast!  She's going to be dating before we know it!
Next week brings more big changes.. the start of 1st Grade.. bitter sweet for this Mommy..   Have a good week!

6 Months Old

It is so HARD to believe that you are already half a year old.  It really does feel like the time is flying by,  I think I will blink and you'll be starting 1st grade {that sounds just awful by the way}.  Take your time little Miss Livie,  I want to eat up every single moment with you.  You are the last little baby that will be welcomed to our family,  yours are the last "little" moments that will be etched in my memory forever.  I remember sitting with Jack when he was a newborn and thinking that it would last forever and ever, that he would always be small to me.  Those days have changed,  he's a big sweaty boy now.  He gets stinky feet and a sweaty head, when he comes in from outside he is just gross!  Brady didn't necessarily get those sweet alone moments,  Jack was way too crazy {at barely 2 yrs. old} for me to have too many moments of sweetness with him.  I can remember thinking that HE was my last and that every moment that passed and every moment I missed would be the last ones that I would have with a sweet baby in my arms.  Brady has given us different memories,  memories of how fragile a little guy can really be.  He wasn't born little and he certainly fragile, but no matter how big he was when he was sick ~ he was fragile.  I look at him now in his sweet little moments and think "how could he have been SO sick"  How on earth could this big ol' bruiser of a kid be that delicate?  He's quite the bruiser, and God bless Teacher Sarah and Teacher Katie this year ~ may they have the patience of a saint and remember that he really is sweet!  I got off track.. what I'm trying to say to you Miss Livie is that I just want you to slow down and let ME enjoy my moments!  May they not go too fast and please let me remember and cherish every single one.  Because in 6 months you will be 1 year old and I know that this next 6 mths will fly by, especially with the holidays ahead of us.. this time of year really does go fast.  So give your Mommy a break and stay sweet and small for a long, long time.
Some of the things that you are doing right now:
*You can sit up {if we help you} for a while, but you can also sit up by yourself with one arm down.
*You are working on getting teeth.. it shows in how cranky you are!
*You eat 2 meals a day, breakfast and dinner.
*When you wake up you are the sweetest little thing, full of hugs and love ~ never a tear.
*Rolling around is your major source of movement, we like to think you are going to crawl but when you get into that position you instantly end up flat on your feet and then push your feet forward, usually hitting your face on the ground.  I think you would rather walk.
*You give your Daddy the biggest smiles with a crinkly nose, you try to keep your eyes on him when he leave the room, moving your little head as fast as it can.
*You open your mouth BIG for the dog to lick {GROSS}

I am sure there are many more things that will come soon, these are just a few to name for now.  Happy 6 Months Baby Livie!  I love you,  Mommy

Happy 5th Birthday Brady!

Today you are 5 (actually yesterday)  ~ it's hard to believe that you are already that big!  You are such a funny little boy.  You can be the most loving little guy one minute and the most rotten little guy the next.  I don't think I ever know what you are going to say or do from one minute to the next.  You really are coming into yourself,  you know you are funny. You are quite the charmer. You love BIG,  you also have a BIG temper. You still like to be little (you like Elmo and asked for a Handy Manny set for your birthday). You are getting kind of bossy!  You LOVE to cook and eat.  You want to be a fireman, football player, chef when you grow up.  You are going to be in Pre-K this year and think that is super cool.  You want to be JUST like your big brother, we call you "Fat Jesus"  When you're older We'll explain.. too funny!  You LOVE being a big brother and sometimes you love just a little too much.  I have a feeling someday Livie will tell you so herself!  You get so mad when you can't do something that Jack is doing or when you aren't as good at something as he is, give it time little man.. I have a feeling you will not have any problems in sports as you grow.  You ran in your first races this year and got your very first medals.. the Awesome 3000 and the Splash, Pedal and Dash.  You have the funniest little run - your hands are stiff and your face is serious - you get the job done - Way to go!  The Splash, Pedal and Dash is a race in Sunriver and during the course we can't always see you or be with you - this was your first year and when we got back home you told Daddy and Uncle Tom that you hit a car on your bike!  You must have been looking around and crashed into a car, you said it knocked you off your seat but it didn't hurt!  I can just picture you in my head ~ silly boy!  You had your first program at school.. it was the Mother's Day Tea.  I cried the whole time.  At first you were shy and then you really got into it, what a special day for just us.  Thanks for singing Bird!  Last month you learned to ride your bike without training wheels, very impressive!  The landings aren't always smooth but you don't give up.  Every night at bedtime you fall asleep to sports talk radio.. years ahead of your age.  You never want french fries you always choose fruit.  You have become quite the swimmer this summer, amazing especially since during your first lesson you sank to the bottom of the pool ~ this could have changed your path completely.  You didn't quit, not even that very same day (when you were 2) when you got out of the pool you very specifically said "I don't want that teacher Mommy, I want a new one" and you got one.  So proud of you.  You can sing the lyrics to a song in a heartbeat.. and love too!  Some times I will think "hey, I know that song"  and it will be a country song off of the radio that I know when I hear it but certainly couldn't sing it.  You are a very special, loved little boy, I could go on and on about the funny things you do.  You certainly do bring a light to our family, always let it shine!  I love you Bird ~ Happy 5th Birthday!  Love,  Mommy
